Milton Gooding began his coaching career at Kenyon College in 1992, as associate head men's soccer and lacrosse coach. At Kenyon, Milton was actively involved in guiding prospective student athletes through the admissions process. In 1997, Milton moved to Amherst College where he spent the next decade achieving one of the highest winning percentages in the nation in men's soccer, coaching the team to numerous NCAA tournaments, highlighted by trips to the NCAA elite eight and final four, while mentoring student athletes.
Milton also provided strategic support and detailed coaching to the men's lacrosse program for a decade running both the offensive and defensive sides of the game. The Amherst Men's Lacrosse program had it's finest seasons with Coach Gooding roaming the sidelines achieving several top twenty national rankings.
At Amherst, Milton was involved in all aspects of the athletic department and served on the athletic admission counsel, in addition to numerous committees. In 2007, Milton moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where under his sage leadership, the MIT men's soccer program has reached new heights, qualifying for the NCAA men's soccer tournament, and rising to the highest winning percentage in the Institute's history.
In Coach Gooding's second season he led the team to an Institute record 14 game unbeaten streak and an NSCAA national top twenty ranking. Appointed by MIT President, Susan Hockfield, Milton serves on the Department of Athletics (DAPER) Advisory Board, along with distinguished faculty from across the Institute. Milton has been actively involved in educational and athletic consulting for several years and has worked for the highly regarded international educational consulting firm, Dunbar Consultants. During the course of his coaching career Milton has mentored and coached dozens of academic and athletic NCAA All-Americans. In this new venture, GSG, Milton's sole focus is on today's modern student athlete. Milton is a frequent speaker on the role of athletics in the college admission process at secondary schools and youth clubs around the country.
